Who You Callin' Nerd?!
Written 10/30/2013

Supplies:

Tube of your choice. Preferably one with a close up image with it. I am using the awesome work of Christine Kotlark. You can get this image athttp://scrapsandthecity.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=339_429&products_id=11598

Scrapkit is called Nerd by Scraps N Pleasure which you can get at http://scrapsandthecity.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=11604

Mask of your choice. I am using mask 30 by Insatiable Dreams.

Font of your choice. I am using NevisonCasD which you can get at http://fontzone.net/font-details/nevisoncasd

Lets begin:
Open element 8 from the kit and shift+D to duplicate.
Close the original.
Resize the one you are working with by 65%.
Now make your canvas large enough to give you plenty of room to work with and we will crop when we are finished.
Open your tube. If using the same tube as I am resize by 85%.
Copy and paste as a new layer and move to the left side of the notebook.
Add a drop shadow :
0
0
100
8.00
black
Add the same drop shadow to the notebook.
Since my tube has the cut off legs and I hate that look I chose to use an element to hide them.
Open element 13 and resize so it will fit along the bottom of the left side of the notebook.
Place on top of your tube and add a drop shadow.
Using your lasso tool with the selection set to point to point select just the top page of the notebook paper on the right.
Open your close up of your tube and copy and paste as a new layer.
Position within the selected area.
Selections invert and hit delete.
Selections select none.
Now lower the opacity to around 40.
If you need to clean up the edges or the pieces of paper folded over at the top you can use your eraser tool.
Open element 15 and resize by 30%.
Copy and paste as a new layer and move to the lower right of the notebook.
Make it so the heart is on the paper and the pen and lid are off.
Using a font of your choice. I wrote “Who You Callin' Nerd?!” on the paper.
Open element 47 and resize. Copy and paste as a new layer and move to the bottom near the center. Add a drop shadow.
Open element 34 and resize and copy and paste as a new layer.
I placed several of them around and behind my tube.
Add a drop shadow to all of them.
Open element 27 and shift + D to duplicate.
Close the original.
Using your lasso tool again select the screen of the laptop.
Again using your close up of your tube copy and paste as a new layer and position in the selected area.
Selections invert and hit delete.
Selections select none.
Merge the 2 layers together and resize by 30%.
Copy and paste as a new layer and drag under the glasses layer.
Move to behind the glasses. Add a drop shadow.
Open element 22 and resize. Copy and paste as new layer.
Move to the lower left and use your eraser tool to erase bits so it looks like it is hanging from the ruler.
Now I wanted to create my own stack of books instead of using the one in the kit so open element 1 and resize by 20%.
Copy and paste as a new layer and move to the bottom center and behind the glasses and laptop.
Duplicate and resize the duplicate by 80%. Repeat for a 3rd book.
Merge all of these layers visible.
Open paper 1 and copy and paste as a new layer and drag under the tag.
Apply the mask of your choice.
Delete the mask layer and merge the group.
Add your name.
Add your copyright information with your license # on it.
Crop and Save.
